We have had a death in the family. Rob’s Dad passed away yesterday morning. Our hearts are broken for him and his family. He will not be able to play the Emo’s show this Friday, Dec 23rd, but original bassist/founding member Patrick Lillard will be helping us out filling in. Send good vibes and P.M.A.

Greetings Schills…

As the very idea of winter has just started to creep into Texas, we in the Riverboat Gamblers are taking a brief holiday break. For the past month we have been hard at work on our as of yet untitled new record.  The end of October saw us in pre-production with Ted Hutt (Gaslight Anthem, Dropkick Murphys, Flogging Molly) in Austin.  After a few weeks of eating indian food and deconstructing the concept of distortion with Ted, we moved our operation four hours north to Dallas.  We began tracking at Elmwood Studio a few weeks ago with Stuart Sikes (White Stripes, Cat Power, Reigning Sound).  Three weeks later, after long hours and lots of coffee, we are getting closer to laying down the soundtrack to the end of the Mayan calendar.  This break we are taking is going well, but we anxiously await to get back in the studio and finish this opus which we hope to present to you sometime next year…

I know that seems difficult for you to have to wait that long without hearing anything…..We would like to give you something to tide you over until next year…. consider it an early Christmas present. It’s the video for “The Ol’ Smash and Grab” from our Smash/Grab EP that’s available through Paper + Plastick.
