Local Austin boy, Michael Sieben did all art for the video and this company in Burbank, Bang Zoom! (they do a bunch of anime and post-production work on trailers and live action and animated shows for TV and web), animated it all together.

As fall turns to winter, the Riverboat Gamblers lumber into our caves. While we may be resting and letting wounds heal, it is only a partial hibernation we are taking. There is still work to be done. Songs are being prepared and recorded. Plots are being dreamt and schemed.

And we have something new for you already!
 
The video for “DissDissDissKissKissKiss” (YouTube).

It was directed and edited by Gates Bradley. He took my germ of an idea and made a bubonic epidemic. He moved to South America in order to focus on the intense editing job. While there, he stared at the mountain of footage on his computer for 3 weeks straight eating only plantains and chewing coca leaves. The experience left him a shell of the man he once was, and he will no longer speak English words unless they are words found within the song (which is less than practical).
 
The video was shot in my house and I would like to thank all our friends who showed up and overcame their shyness (I’d like to think the “party table” helped) to perform in the video. Extra special thanks to co-conspirator Jose Jones for lights, cameras and action.

Also, I wanted update everyone on Ian’s recovery (obviously this video was shot before the accident), he is doing well and beginning physical therapy this week. For more, Ian has written a lengthier update over on his Tumblr site.

It’s definitely been a trying few days. On the night of Saturday October 17th, while riding his bike home, a car hit Ian Mcdougall, guitarist of our band Riverboat Gamblers. He sustained some pretty heavy injuries including a broken hip, a broken wrist and hemmoraging under the skull along with many lacerations, torn ligaments, bruises and and scrapes.

He was rushed by ambulance to Brackenridge hospital in Austin and stayed in the ICU for 2 days before being moved into his own room where he is undergoing physical therapy while awaiting the results on X-rays and MRIs as well as a deluge of other various tests.

That being said, the prognosis is better than we had first thought. We are happy that he is going to be ok and that he is alive and with us. Unfortunately, not only is he in for a long recovery and is in a lot of pain, but he will be celebrating his birthday in bed with hospital food.

On another unfortunate note, there are a pile of bills currently gaining a Mt. Everest-like summit from all his hospital expenses. We set up a PayPal account and Tumblr site for our band mate and friend to try and help him get on top of the debt and focus on his recovery. Chased a dude down the street in my boxers who was trying to break in to van late last night. Im not sure if he was scared of me or just repulsed by the sight of my bare legs. Either way I am a hero in the purest sense of the word. I am like Audie Murphy or Bruce Leroy.
